Creative Patches Quilt Shoppe started at 185 W. Tefft in December 1997 as a alteration and custom sewing business....The need for a fabric store with a quilting emphasis was asked for by the customers....So in April 1999 I moved my business to 136A N. Thompson Road....Olde Towne Quilters of Nipomo was formed at this time also with 35 ladies attending the first meeting in the then class room....We were excited (Jeanne Martin and myself) to see so many excited ladies at our first meeting to format our Nipomo Guild...We have out grown the class room for both Guild membership and Classroom space, so 136A now is just the fabric store and 136B in the class rooms....The Guild AM members meet at 10am at St. Joseph's Church and the Guild PM members meet at 6:30pm in the class room at Creative Patches....New members are always welcomed....We now have over 125 members....
Please come by at any time to see the store or visit a class that is in session....I now have a web site where all info is posted and my monthly newsletter and schedule is available for you to see what is happening at the Creative Patches House.....
This month end is the Central Coast Quilt Shop Owners Association second Annual Qult Run....We had over 800 quilters coming through Nipomo last May 2002 registering at Creative Patches while on their way to their next quilt shop to register for wonderful winnings....They of course stop to shop, and check out the immediate area for needs like food, etc. so this brings many new people to Nipomo.....This year May 30, 31 and June 1 we expect 1000 or more so hope this will help the area merchants also....
In June during the Nipomo Street Fair on June 28th we (Olde Towne Quilters of Nipomo) will also hold our first Quilt Sale and Show....
The guild has made many quilts for sale and of course there will be quilts on display for show only, we will have a bake sale also and all this will be held at Creative Patches Class Room and parking lot....Shopping will also be available in the store....Come see and shop....This will help the guild grow for future Quilt Shows...
Please go to my web site www.creativepatches.com and see what all is happening at the Patches House....Patricia Hughes, owner
