Driving around Nipomo looking for places to rent, I found a secret garden, just like in the movie and book. But, this wasn't a castle, it was an old house marked for destruction, obviously. But what a beautiful old garden surrounded it! There are peaches, grapes, lemons, prickly pear cactus fruits, walnuts, rose hips and blackberries gone wild from lack of human care. You can tell this used to be somebody's paradise. The house is just falling into the ground, but the garden is going on a life of its own. The grapes literally grow over the house and the peaches have grown like vines trying to reach the sunlight. One can only picture what it could be liked if saved: Nipomo's own perfect Secret Garden!
