Full Description:
Batteries, electronics and other common items are now considered Household Hazardous Waste.
Many electronics products such as computers, televisions, microwave ovens and common items such as household batteries, paints and solvents are now considered Hazardous Waste (HHW). Proper disposal of HHW is vital to preserving our community’s environmental health. Household Hazardous Waste must be taken to a licensed disposal facility.
Nipomo residents are urged to dispose of Household Hazardous Waste items
FREE OF CHARGE at the NIPOMO HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE FACILITY: 590 Southland, Nipomo, CA (access from Frontage Road, south of the Tefft St. / Hwy. 101 off ramp). The facility is open on SATURDAYS ONLY: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The following items can be dropped off at NO CHARGE to SLO County residents: AEROSOL SPRAY CANS, AIR CONDITIONING FREON, AMMONIA BASED CLEANERS, ALL HOUSEHOLD BATTERIES, CELL PHONES & TELEPHONES, CHEMICAL FERTILIZERS, COMPUTERS, DISINFECTANTS, DRAIN CLEANERS, FLEA REPELLANT, FLOOR AND FURNITURE POLISH, FLUORESCENT BULBS & TUBES (UNDER 20 PER VISIT), GLUE (IF SOLVENT BASED), EPOXY, KEROSENE OR LAMP OIL, LIGHTER FLUID, MICROWAVE OVENS, MOTH BALLS, OVEN CLEANER, NAIL POLISH REMOVER, PAINT (OIL OR LATEX; PARTIAL OR FULL CANS), PAINT THINNER, STRIPPER, P. C. MONITORS, PHOTOGRAPHIC FIXER, PHOTOGRAPHIC DEVELOPER, PESTICIDES (HERBICIDES, INSECTICIDES), POISONS (RAT, MICE, SLUG, BUG), POOL CHEMICALS, PROPANE (NON-REFILLABLE CYLINDERS) , PRINTERS, RUST REMOVER, SHOE POLISH, SHOE DYE, SMOKE ALARMS/DETECTORS, SPOT REMOVER, RUG CLEANER, TELEPHONES & CELL PHONES, TELEVISIONS, THERMOMETERS (BROKEN MERCURY),THERMOSTATS, VCR’S. Drop off limit is 15 gallons or 125 pounds.
